This class was originally offered at Stitches Boutique in Minneapolis in August 2023 (in-person class), but with XRX (Stitches’ parent company)’s bankruptcy, it was cancelled.
If your guild or weaving group is interested in hosting this workshop and invite me as an instructor, please contact me at hello@yorikooki.com . I prefer to teach this class as an in-person class.
Woven Shibori is a technique in which you prepare the fabric by inserting resist threads as you weave. After weaving, you pull on those threads to gather the cloth, then dye it. The process creates organic color patterns which you will not see until after the dye process — when you release the ties and unfold the cloth. Opening the cloth is very much like opening a present!
You don’t need any previous experience with dyeing. However, do you need to be able to warp your loom according to the instruction on your own before the class.
Come to the class to play with the patterns and colors!
