Optical Blending with Mohair Yarn

Many beautiful knitting designs call for 2 strands of yarn worked together — fingering-weight with lace-weight mohair. But how do you choose those colors? Take combining colors from theory to hands-on experience as you knit mohair from the sampling kit with variegated  and semisolid yarns from your stash.

Class Date/Time: June 10, 2023, Saturday, 10am to 1pm Pacific Time (1pm to 4pm Eastern Time) – One 3-hour sesssion.

When combining 2 strands of yarn, many people work with 2 very similar colors — but using 2 different colors can give more interesting results.

Yoriko helps you explore the possibilities of mixing colors. After a brief sundry of color theory and the concepts of optical blending, you will sample various combinations using the mohair yarns provided by Yoriko held together with yarns that may have been languishing in your stash. Perhaps individually the colors aren’t exactly what you like, but you will learn how to use optical mixing to make a variety of new colors.

You will leave the class with samples in hand and with your mind and eyes open to try more ideas and unexpected possibilities for color combinations. Sometimes the results are surprising; sometimes they are magical!

We highly recommend you to purchase the kit for the class, unless you have lace weight mohair yarn in good range of colours in your stash already. You need gray/white/black, and brown and all other colours around the colour wheel in at least light and medium shades. Some dark shades would be nice, too!
